Shotcrete

Shotcrete is a special mixture of concrete, high in cement and fly ash, with relatively fine aggregate. Shotcrete is applied pnematically. Wet mix shotcrete is ready mix, pumped through a line to the nozzle. At the nozzel, air is introduced to provide velocity for application. Dry mix shotcrete is pumped through the line under air pressure. Water is added at the nozzle.

Shotcrete can be used for a wide variety of applications such as tunnel linings, building wall overlayment for additional strength and repair of concrete structures. Shotcrete is also used in combination with soil nail walls and occaisionally with tieback walls.

Shotcrete can be considered temporary for support during the construction phase, or permanent. Various finishes are possible with shotcrete. A rough finish is all that is required for temporary support. A relatively smooth gun finish is possible with the application of a final overcoat of shotcrete. Architectural, sculpted and stained shotcrete can replicate about any rock outcropping.

WEC has ACI shotcrete nozzleman with years of shotcrete experience. We would like the opportunity to show you how we can help you on your next project.
