An existing gabion wall was failing allowing the parking lot and curbing above the wall to settle and break away from the other portions of the parking lot. Soil nails with a shotcrete facing was originally specified to stabilize the gabion wall. Wurster Engineering & Construction, Inc. submitted an alternate design to replace the shotcrete facing with TECCO Mesh. Drilled and grouted solid thread bar soil nails were replaced with Titan self grouting bars.
At each nail location, grout was pumped through the Titan bars as they were advanced allowing drilling through the rock filled gabions without the need to case the holes. TECCO Mesh was placed over the gabions, connected to the soil nails with spike plates and tightened to secure the underlying gabions.
The result is a slope repair that does not look repaired. |
