Wurster Engineering & Construction completed construction of an approximately 4,043 square foot soil nail wall for the J.Crew Distribution Center in Arden, North Carolina.

As part of an expansion to the facility, it was necessary to excavate into the hillside for construction of a tractor-trailer back up lane. |
|
|
|
Loose fill soils, residual soils and partially weathered rock were encountered. Continuous ground water flow was also encountered requiring installation of horizontal drains. Maximum soil nail wall height was about 31 feet.

The soil nail wall will be permanently exposed, and a relatively straight shotcrete finish was provided. The top of the wall was extended above ground level to control surface water runoff. |
