12/15/11 Shotcrete Nozzleman Certification - Three of our previous shotcrete nozzlemen took the test for recertification and  five of our crew took the test for certification for the first time. Congratulations! Click here to view test panels being shot.

12/14/11 Ed Ware, PE - Ed Ware with our office passed the exam for his PE license. Originally from New Hampshire, Ed obtained a Masters Degree in Geotechnical Engineering from Virginia Tech. Congratulations!!!!!

12/13/11 Marriott Hotel in Charleston, SC - WEC has been awarded the contract to install micropiles at the Marriott Hotel in Charleston, SC. Consolidation of soft alluvial soils are causing portions of the facility not previously supported on piling to settle. 

8/31/11 Bath Branch in Winston-Salem, NC - WEC has completed the  temporary and permanent soil nail walls for the Bath Branch project.  A series of terraced soil nail walls were constructed to allow construction of new sewer lines and for construction of a large cast in place concrete retaining wall.

11/23/11 Wal-Mart - WEC completed construction of a soil nail wall for a new Wal-Mart in Franklin, NC. Vertical excavations at the base of a hillside excavation were permanently supported using the soil nail method. The finished face was an additional layer of shotcrete. This method of shoring was chosen over other retaining wall options as the most cost effective solution.

11/18/11 CPR Training - Fifteen of our field and office staff recently completed first aid, CPR and bloodborn pathogen training. Congratulations!

11/12/11 ADSC Equipment Expo and Technical Conference to be held  March 14-17, 2012 in San Antonio, Texas.

9/28/11 Lake James Stilling Basin - WEC applied reinforced shotcrete overlay for the new stilling basin at the Lake James powerhouse in Morganton, NC. See project sheet under Shotcrete.
